The Fatih Mosque stands in the historic centre of Durrës, Albania, next to the fortress walls dating from the Venetian period. Built in the Ottoman architectural tradition, it is named after Sultan Mehmed II, known as Mehmed the Conqueror (al-Fatih). Locally it is also called the Old Mosque or the Small Mosque, names that distinguish it from the Great Mosque built in the 1930s. It is regarded as the third-oldest mosque in Albania and is protected as a Cultural Monument of Albania.

According to our records the mosque was built in 1503 and named after Sultan Mehmed II. During the communist period it was closed by the authorities and its minaret was demolished. The building was declared a cultural monument in 1973. After the communist dictatorship ended, the minaret was rebuilt in a simple style.

Die Fatih-Moschee (albanisch Xhamia Fatih, örtlich auch Xhamia e vjetër und Xhamia e vogël genannt, zu dt. Alte resp. Kleine Moschee als Gegensatz zur in den 1930er Jahren errichteten Großen Moschee) ist ein bedeutendes historisches Bauwerk in der zentralalbanischen Hafenstadt Durrës. Sie ist die drittälteste Moschee des Landes und wurde 1973 zum Kulturdenkmal erklärt. Die Fatih-Moschee befindet sich im historischen Stadtkern von Durrës angrenzend zu den Festungsmauern aus venezianischer Zeit.
