The Nord Kamal Mosque stands at 50 Let Oktyabrya Street 2A in Norilsk, in Russia's Krasnoyarsk region, and is the largest mosque in the city. It was designed in a Turkish architectural style with a minaret and a central dome. Because of the harsh climate of the far north, the minaret tower rests on a square base rather than the round form common elsewhere; this shape is said to keep the walls from freezing and to resist wind better. The mosque is also cited in the Guinness World Records as the northernmost mosque in the world.
