The Samara Mosque (Russian: Samarskaya sobornaya mechet) is regarded as one of the largest mosques in Russia. It is built of red brick and is crowned by a main dome 13.5 metres in diameter, while its minaret rises to 67 metres. The design was prepared by Rasim Walshin, an architect from Samara. An apple orchard lies alongside the walls. The mosque stands at Stara-Zagora Street 54 in the Promyshlenniy district. It should not be confused with the city's pre-revolutionary mosque dating from 1891.
