Demak Great Mosque (Indonesian: Masjid Agung Demak) stands in the centre of the town of Demak in Central Java, Indonesia, and is considered one of the oldest mosques in the country. It is located on Jalan Kyai Singkil. Our records name Sunan Kalijaga as its architect and Raden Patah, the first ruler of the Demak Sultanate, as its patron. Sources associate the mosque with the Wali Songo, the nine saints credited with spreading Islam in Java, of whom Sunan Kalijaga is the most prominent.

According to the database record, the mosque was built in 1479. Sources state that it is believed to have been constructed in the 15th century, during the reign of Raden Patah, the first ruler of the Demak Sultanate, by the Wali Songo, with Sunan Kalijaga as the leading figure. The sources present this attribution as a belief rather than as a firmly documented fact.
