Our records give 1512 as the year the mosque was built.
In the summer of 1992, at the start of the Bosnian War, the mosque was destroyed with explosives by local Serbian authorities and militia. On 4 May 2004 the site and the remaining material were declared a National Monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina by KONS.
The mosque was then rebuilt using the same material and was officially opened on 4 September 2011.
